Slane, Galeotafiore Win Weekly ECC Men's Lacrosse Accolades

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Apr. 12, 2016) - On Monday, LIU Post men's lacrosse senior attackman/midfielder Ryan Slane (North Babylon, N.Y.) and junior midfielder Anthony Galeotafiore (Wantagh, N.Y.) were individually honored as the East Coast Conference Player and Defensive Player of the Week.

Slane scored a game-high-tying four goals and earned an assist Saturday (Apr. 9), as the then-No. 14 ranked Pioneers moved their record to 7-3 with a 15-5 upset of fifth-ranked New York Institute of Technology.

He netted three unassisted first-half tallies and added another in the fourth quarter to help seal the win. It marked the seventh-straight game in 2016 that Slane notched at least three goals.

This year, Slane has accumulated 51 points, off 30 goals and 21 assists. His averages of 5.0 points, 3.0 goals and 2.0 assists per contest currently rank in the Top-20 in Division II.

Meanwhile, Galeotafiore, who presently boasts the fifth-best faceoff win percentage (.691) in the nation, was successful on 18-of-21 (85.7 percent) draws against NYIT.

In his last six starts as the Pioneers' primary faceoff specialist, Galeotafiore has not lost more than three draws in three of those appearances.

Slane, Galeotafiore and the Pioneers are back in action Saturday (Apr. 16), when they welcome in No. 10/14 Dowling College for a noon opening faceoff at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium in Brookville.
