PERRY, N.Y. (Apr. 13, 2016) - LIU Post men's lacrosse senior attackman/midfielder
Ryan Slane (North Babylon, N.Y.) has been selected as the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association/Lids Team Sports Division II Offensive Player of the Week, the organization announced Wednesday morning.
The reigning East Coast Conference Player of the Week, Slane helped the Pioneers to a 15-5 win over then-No. 5 New York Institute of Technology last Saturday (Apr. 9). He registered a game-high-tying four goals, including three in the first half, and added an assist in the upset. It marked the seventh time in as many contests in 2016 that Slane scored three or more goals.
Slane is currently LIU Post's leading scorer on the year with 51 points (31 G, 20 A). His goal, assist and point totals all rank second in the East Coast Conference. Additionally, Slane's average of 5.0 points per game is eighth-best amongst the nation's statistical leaders.
Slane and the Pioneers return to action Saturday (Apr. 16), when they open a three-game homestand at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium against No. 10/14 Dowling College. The opening faceoff is slated for noon.
