Anthony Galeotafiore (Wantagh, N.Y.), the No. 14/13 LIU Post men's lacrosse team knocked off No. 5/8 New York Institute of Technology, 15-5, in an East Coast Conference showdown Saturday at President's Stadium.
Tied 2-2 five minutes into the first quarter, the Pioneers (7-3, 4-1 ECC) scored six unanswered goals to grab an 8-2 lead. Senior midfielder
Anthony Berardis (Mahopac, N.Y.) netted back-to-back unassisted markers to start the run. Senior attackman/midfielder
Ryan Slane (North Babylon, N.Y.) followed with three unassisted tallies.
LIU Post, which held an 8-3 cushion at the break, rattled off another six-goal run in the second half to seal the victory. This time, graduate midfielder

Matt Bellando (Miami, Fla.) recorded two goals apiece to help the Pioneers widen the gap to 14-3 with 9:37 left in the fourth quarter.

Matthew Liantonio (Miller Place, N.Y.) made seven saves for the Pioneers. His counterpart, Alex Seltzer (Plainview, N.Y.), stopped five shots for the Bears (8-3, 4-1 ECC).
For the contest, LIU Post owned a 29-28 edge in shots and a 30-8 advantage in ground balls. It was also 17-of-21 (80.9 percent) on clears and 3-of-5 (60.0 percent) on the man-up, improving the Pioneers' Division II-best EMO mark to 62.1 percent (18-of-29).
