CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (May 26, 2016) - On Wednesday, LIU Post men's soccer senior midfielder Per Forgaard (Stavanger, Norway) was named the 2015-16 East Coast Conference Male Scholar Athlete of the Year.

Forgaard carried a grade-point average of 3.83 in his graduate studies, after boasting a 3.7 undergraduate GPA as an International Business major.

He wrapped up his Pioneer career with a stellar showing in 2015, tallying 13 goals and 13 assists for 39 points. Forgaard also helped the Pioneers to an ECC title and a second-consecutive NCAA Division II East Region Championship.

His efforts earned him the nod as the ECC Offensive Player of the Year. Additionally, Forgaard garnered D2CCA and NSCAA First Team All-America honors and landed a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team.

Upon graduation, Forgaard's on-field success at LIU Post led to a professional soccer contract with the New York Cosmos B Team of the National Premier Soccer League.
