BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Mar. 15, 2017) - In continuing with its tradition of engaging and involving the local community, the LIU Post men's lacrosse team is proud to announce three events that it will play host to over the next two months.
Saturday, Mar. 18 vs. Georgian Court - Salute to Service
In an effort to honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, the Pioneers will raise funds for all military personnel and veterans on Mar. 18, in conjunction with their game against Georgian Court at 12 p.m.
Wednesday, Mar. 22 vs. Dominican - Muscular Dystrophy Awareness
On Mar. 22, the green and gold will participate in a joint fundraising effort with the rest of the East Coast Conference to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
In April 2016, Michael Coffey, former Assistant Sports Information Director and Assistant Men's Basketball Coach and avid lacrosse supporter at Dominican College, passed away from complications due to muscular dystrophy.
Saturday, Apr. 29 vs. Roberts Wesleyan - Team Connor Day
On Apr. 29, the Pioneers will host "Team Connor Day" for the fifth-consecutive year. The green and gold have raised over $30,000 to benefit pediatric cancer research, since the initiative was launched in 2013.
"Team Connor Day" recognizes Cancer Center for Kids' patient Connor Bradley and his battle against pediatric cancer. As he has for the past several years, Connor will serve as LIU Post's honorary captain, coaching the Pioneers from the sidelines.
In keeping with tradition, Connor will also share his honorary coaching abilities with other CCFK patients, who are currently undergoing treatment.
The event will feature various raffles and prizes to help raise funds for the Cancer Center for Kids. A private donor has offered to contribute $100 for every Pioneer goal scored, as well.
