BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The LIU Post men's lacrosse will begin the 2018 season as one of the top ranked teams in the nation, slated at number 20 in the preseason Nike/US Lacrosse Division II poll.
The Pioneers ended the 2017 campaign receiving votes in the final poll, but find themselves back in the top-20 thanks to the return of a core group of standout players from a year ago.
The Green and Gold return 97 percent of their scoring from last season, including senior midfielder
Dylan Harned and four other All-East Coast Conference members. As a team last year, the Green and Gold ranked third in the ECC in scoring with 171 goals on the offensive end, while finishing second goals-against average, allowing just 8.12 goals per tilt.
The team will tune-up for the regular season with scrimmages against Nassau Community College on Saturday, Feb. 3, and the United States Merchant Marine Academy on Saturday, Jan. 10 at Bethpage Federal Credit Union before opening the regular season on the road at American International College in Springfield, Mass. On Saturday, Feb. 17.
