COMPLETE 2019 MEN'S LACROSSE SCHEDULE
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Head men's lacrosse coach
Eric Wolf released the LIU Post Pioneers 14-game 2019 slate on Friday, featuring nine games played inside Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.
Coming off a 10-5 season where the Pioneers reached the East Coast Conference championship game for the fourth time in the past five seasons, the Green and Gold will battle three NCAA Championship qualifiers as it pursues its fourth national championship in program history.
"In order to reach our goals, we need to challenge ourselves and that's exactly what we have set out to do in 2019," commented Wolf. "We have three out of four NCAA Tournament teams from last season's north bracket, several perennial top 10 programs, as well as the tremendous competition that the ECC Conference always brings. I know our squad is looking forward to the challenges that lay ahead."
The season begins in mid-February when the Pioneers host its first four opponents, starting with American International College on Saturday, Feb. 16. The matchup with the Yellow Jackets marks the first of four Northeast-10 Conference opponents to begin the season, including Saint Anselm College on Saturday, Feb. 23 and Pace University on Saturday, March 2. The NE10 stretch concludes with a home matchup against the defending national champion Warriors of Merrimack College on Saturday, March 9.
East Coast Conference play officially kicks off on Wednesday, March 13 when the Pioneers face their first road test of the season at Saint Thomas Aquinas College before making the trek to local rival Adelphi University for a 7:00 p.m. showdown under the lights of Motamed Field.
Home conference games against Roberts Wesleyan College and Molloy College bookend a road non-conference tilt with Georgian Court University to close out March. As the calendar turns to April, the Green and Gold host Wilmington University in its penultimate non-conference tilt of the season. Three consecutive ECC games lie ahead in early April, beginning with a road matchup at the District of Columbia. The 2018 edition of the Battle of the Boulevard and a rematch of last season's ECC Championship thriller with the New York Institute of Technology is slated to take place inside Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium on Saturday, April 13. The final road game and league matchup of the regular season takes place on Saturday, April 20 at Mercy College before the Pioneers host 2018 national semifinalist Seton Hill University on. Saturday, April 27 on Senior Day.
The quest for LIU Post's ninth conference title begins on Wednesday, May 1 in the semifinal round of the ECC playoffs to be played at the higher seed's campus before a champion is crowned on Championship Saturday May 4. The 12-team national bracket is revealed as part of the national selection show on Sunday, May 5 with the NCAA First Round scheduled to take place on Wednesday, May 8. This year's national champion will be crowned at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pa.
