2018-19 Schedule
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The LIU Post men's basketball team released its 2018-19 schedule on Wednesday. The Pioneers will play 28 regular season games, including 15 at home as announced by head coach
Erik Smiles.
"As always, we play a tough schedule that is not only going to prepare us for conference play but it is a slate of games that if we do well can help get us in the NCAA tournament," said Smiles. "The ECC has a chance to produce two-to-three NCAA Tournament teams this year, our conference schedule is always a challenge"
The 2018-19 schedule features three games against opponents that made the NCAA Tournament last season and a pair of four-game home stands.
The Pioneers open the season on Saturday, Nov. 10 at the University of Bridgeport Crossover Classic against Post University and return to the court Sunday, Nov. 11 against the University of Sciences in Philadelphia. LIU Post then hosts fourconsecutive home games; the Pioneers home opener is on Wednesday, Nov. 14 against the University of New Haven followed by a games against Franklin Pierce University on Saturday, Nov. 17 and the College of St. Rose on Saturday, Nov. 24. LIU Post closes out its four-game home stand on Wednesday, Nov. 28 against Georgian Court University.
Up next is an away game against Nyack College on Saturday, Dec. 1 followed by the Pioneers' first East Coast Conference (ECC) contest of the season against Molloy College inside the Pratt Recreation Center. LIU Post then hits the road to take on Queens College on Saturday, Dec. 8 before commencing another four-game home stand.
LIU Post hosts Daemen College on Wednesday, Dec. 12 followed by Roberts Wesleyan College on Sunday, Dec. 16, American International College on Wednesday, Dec. 19 and Southern Connecticut State on Jan. 2, 2019.
The Pioneers then head to the nation's capital to take on the University of District of Columbia on Wednesday, Jan. 9 followed by three-straight games inside the Pratt Recreation Center. LIU Post hosts Saint Thomas Aquinas College on Saturday, Jan. 12, New York Institute of Technology on Wednesday, Jan. 16 and the Bridgeport on Wednesday, Jan. 23. The month of January concludes with road games against Mercy College on Saturday, Jan. 26 and Molloy on Wednesday, Jan. 30.
February begins with back-to-back home games; the Pioneers host Queens on Saturday, Feb. 2 and UDC on Thursday, Feb. 7. LIU Post then plays the first of its four-straight away games against Saint Thomas Aquinas on Saturday, Feb. 9, Daemen on Friday, Feb. 15, Roberts Wesleyan on Sunday, Feb. 17 and Bridgeport on Wednesday, Feb. 20.
The final regular season home game for the Pioneers is on Saturday, Feb. 23 against Mercy and the final game of the regular season is against NYIT on Wednesday, Feb. 27.
Postseason begins with the ECC quarterfinals on Wednesday, Mar. 6. The higher seed will host. The ECC semifinals and final will be hosted by Bridgeport inside Harvey Hubbell Gymnasium on Saturday, Mar. 9 and Sunday, Mar. 10.
The NCAA Division II East Region Tournament will begin on Friday, Mar. 15 and the NCAA Division II Championship takes place in Evansville, Indiana on Wednesday, Mar. 27.
