NIKE/U.S. LACROSSE POLL

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. –
The LIU Post women's lacrosse team moved up a spot in both national polls Monday as they were tabbed at No. 6 in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Association (IWLCA) Division II Coaches Poll and No. 5 in the Nike/U.S. Lacrosse Poll.
 
The Pioneers garnered 475 points to land at No. 5 in the IWLCA Division II Coaches Poll and moved up one spot to No. 5 in the Nike/U.S. Lacrosse Poll.
 
In its season opener on Saturday, February 23 LIU Post defeated No. 16/20 Merrimack College 7-2 at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.
 
Freshman goalkeeper Hailey Duchnowski notched 12 saves with a .857 save percentage and added a team-high five ground balls in her debut. Junior Alyssa Mallery had a game-high three goals while juniors Paige Sherlock and Brianna Feldman each had two. Mallery also added four ground balls and led the team in draw controls with three. Feldman, junior Angela Deren and sophomore Jamie Alvino caused two turnovers each.
