Seader Named LIU Post’s First NFCA Division II Player of the Year

NFCA RELEASE

LOUISVILLE, Ky. –
The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced LIU Post senior catcher Julia Seader as the Schutt Sports/NFCA National Division II Player of the Year on Thursday, May 30.

Seader caps off an incredible final season in an LIU Post uniform with yet another postseason accolade, having already been named East Coast Conference Player of the Year, Division II Conference Commissioners Association East Region Player of the Year, NFCA Division II Catcher of the Year, and NFCA first team All-America. Seader also becomes the first LIU Post student-athlete to be named National Player of the Year in the 44-year history of the softball program, and also becomes the first player from the East Region to earn the award.

The Piscataway native helped rewrite the record books this season. This year, Seader matched the single season program record with games played (64) and hits (91), while also becoming the career program leader in at-bats (760), hits (304), doubles (60), total bases (523), and slugging percentage (.688).

In addition, Seader proved to be one of the most dangerous hitters at the plate this season, leading the nation in total bases (173), and home runs (21). Despite the staggering numbers, Seader was not just a power threat, as she also ranked fifth in hits, 10th in runs batted in (63), and 12th in slugging percentage (.832). Seader also ranked in the top-50 in batting average (32nd - .438), doubles (36th – 17), and on-base percentage (46th - .506). Seader led the East Region in six offensive categories and led the ECC in nine categories.
