Plompen's Hat Trick Leads No. 1 Men's Lacrosse Past Seton Hill, 11-6

GREENSBURG, Pa. (March 5, 2011) – Junior attacker
Eddie Plompen (West Islip, N.Y.) scored a game-high three goals to lead No. 1-ranked C.W. Post past Seton Hill University, 11-6, in an East Coast Conference men's lacrosse contest Saturday afternoon.
C.W. Post improves to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in the ECC while Seton Hill slips to 1-2 overall and 0-1 in the ECC.
Seton Hill outshot C.W. Post, 29-27, and held a 21-17 advantage in ground balls.
The Pioneers led 1-0 after one quarter courtesy of a goal from senior midfielder
Mike Messina (Sayville, N.Y.) at 7:25. The visitors added two more in the second from Plompen and senior attacker
Nick Coric (Walnut Creek, Calif.). Seton Hill matched with two in the quarter to trail 3-2 at the half.
The Pioneers pushed their lead higher in the third quarter with five goals that were highlighted by a pair of goals from senior midfielder
Brad DeSouza (Trumbull, Conn.) in the final 42 seconds. The Griffins only managed three goals in the third.
Seton Hill added one more goal at the top of the fourth from James Delaney but C.W. Post hung on to score three more goals from Plompen, Coric, and junior
Owen Campbell (Massapequa, N.Y.) to end the game.
Sophomore attacker
Justin Patterson (Corning, N.Y.) added three assists in the game. Senior goalkeeper
Mike Giordano turned aside 12 shots for his sixth win of the season.
Delaney led the Griffin squad with two goals.
C.W. Post returns to action on March 11 on the road at Bentley University.
