No. 1 Men's Lacrosse Headlines 10 USILA All-America Selections

PERRY, N.Y. (May 24, 2011) The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association released the 2011 All-Americans and the C.W. Post men's lacrosse team leads the list with 10 selections.
 
Senior midfielder Mike Messina (Sayville, N.Y.) and junior attacker Eddie Plompen (West Islip, N.Y.) were both First Team selections.
 
Messina, who was also named the ECC Player of the Year, is a three-time All-American. He helped the Pioneers back to the NCAA Tournament and a 16-1 record in the 2011 campaign by tallying 29 goals and seven assists for 36 points.  Messina was a constant threat offensively, tallying multiple points in 12 games, including six games where he surpassed the three point mark.
 
Plompen led the Pioneers in scoring with 54 goals and 18 assists this season and was an ECC First Team selection in 2011. Plompen twice scored six goals this season against Grand Canyon (Feb. 19) and Chestnut Hill (Feb. 26).
 
Senior defenders Dan DaCosta (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) and Erik Boyd (Coram, N.Y.) along with junior long stick midfielder Jason Cranmer (Hicksville, N.Y.), junior midfielder Keith Rodriguez (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) and senior face-off specialist Ronnie Irving (Glen Head, N.Y.) were named to the Second Team.
 
Senior attacker Nick Coric (Walnut Creek, Calif.), senior defender John Wood (Marblehead, Mass.) and senior goalkeeper Mike Giordano (Farmingdale, N.Y.) were named Honorable Mention.
 
C.W. Post completed its season with a 16-2 overall record and qualified for the NCAA tournament for the third straight year.
