Messina Honored As ECAC Offensive Player Of The Year

CAPE COD, Mass. (August 28, 2011) – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced that C.W. Post senior midfielder Mike Messina (Sayville, N.Y.) was named the Offensive Player of the Year by coaches from the East Coast Conference, Northeast-10 and Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.
 
Messina along with junior attacker Eddie Plompen (West Islip, N.Y.) was named to the ECAC All-Star team.
 
Messina was recognized by the U.S. Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association with the 2011 Outstanding Player of the Year award as well as the Lt. Donald McLaughlin Jr. Award for the most outstanding midfielder in NCAA Division II. The three-time USILA All-American completed his four-year career at C.W. Post racking up 70 goals and 28 assists, including 29 goals and seven assists this season. He was voted the 2011 East Coast Conference Player of the Year, too. He is the first C.W. Post player to be named USILA Midfielder of the Year in the history of the program.
