Men's Lacrosse Selected Fourth in USILA 2012 Preseason Poll

PITSSBURGH, PA. (Feb. 14, 2012) – In the first installment of the USILA Division II Coaches Poll, the C.W. Pioneers men's lacrosse team has been selected number four to start the season. 

The Pioneers are coming off a 2011 season that saw a 16-2 overall record, including a 9-1 finish in the East Coast Conference.  Coming into this season, C.W. Post has been selected second in the preseason ECC poll while senior attacker Eddie Plompen (West Islip, N.Y.) was chosen as the Preseason Offensive Player of the Year.

Topping the USILA poll was 2011 National Champion, Mercyhurst.  Mercyhurst totaled 108 points in the poll that included all nine first place votes.  Finishing with 97 points and in second place was last season's runner-up, Adelphi.  Limestone came in at third with 83 points with C.W. Post slotting in at fourth with 77 points.  Rounding out the top five was fellow ECC member Dowling, tallying 72 points. 

Sixth place was taken by LeMoyne, followed by New York Tech, Merrimack, Mercy and Pfeiffer to conclude the top 10.  Seton Hill and Catawba took home 11th and 12th place respectively. 

The Pioneers are set to begin the 2012 schedule with a home game against Wheeling Jesuit this Saturday, Feb. 18.  The game is set to begin at 12 p.m. on Hickox Field.
