Men's Lacrosse Selected Second In ECC Preseason Poll; Plompen Voted Preseason Player Of The Year
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Feb. 9, 2012) – The C.W. Post men's lacrosse team was picked second in the 2012 East Coast Conference men's lacrosse preseason poll, as voted on by the conference's head coaches. Senior attacker
Eddie Plompen (West Islip, N.Y.) was selected as the Offensive Player of the Year.
Reigning national champion Mercyhurst was the top vote getter in the poll with eight first-place votes and 116 points. The Pioneers received two first-place votes and finished with 103 points. Dowling was third with 98 points and received the final first-place tally.
Mercy was fifth with 76 points while Seton Hill was sixth with 71 points. In seventh was Chestnut Hill with 53 points while Lake Erie was eighth with 40 points. Molloy, Wheeling Jesuit and Dominican round out the poll with 36, 27 and 15 points, respectively.
C.W. Post opens its season at home on Saturday, Feb. 18 against Wheeling Jesuit at 12 p.m.
