No. 12 Men's Lacrosse Edged By Lake Erie, 8-7

PAINESVILLE, Ohio (April 7, 2012) – Lake Erie College finished strong in the fourth quarter with three goals to overcome a 7-5 deficit and defeat No. 12 C.W. Post, 8-7, Saturday afternoon in an East Coast Conference men's lacrosse clash at Jack Britt Memorial Stadium.
Lake Erie improves to 3-4 overall and 1-3 in the ECC while C.W. Post falls to 3-5 overall and 1-5 in conference play.
Joeyjohn French led the Storm with two goals and an assist while teammates MacGregor Johnston and Keegan Bal each had a goal and an assist.
Senior attacker
Doug Hoch (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) led the game with three goals and an assist. Senior midfielder
Keith Rodriguez (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) scored two goals and added two assists.
The Pioneers built a 3-0 lead to start off the first quarter with back-to-back goals from Hoch and a goal from sophomore attacker
Connor Mackay (Shrub Oak, N.Y.).
The Storm cut into the lead with a pair of goals from French within 10 seconds of each other.
C.W. Post responded with goals from Rodriguez and Hoch to build the lead back to 5-2. The Storm added one more goal before the end of the half on a man-up score from Reagan Harding.
In the third quarter, Rodriguez and senior attacker
Eddie Plompen (West Islip, N.Y.) each scored a goal for the Pioneers' final scores of the game and gave them a 7-5 lead.
In the fourth, Keegan Bal found the back of the net on a pass from French at 12:57. Bal then assisted on the next goal when he dished a pass to Trevor Tarte to tie the game at 7-7. The game-winner was recorded with 9:15 left to play in regulation when MacGregor Johnston scored unassisted.
Alexander Wisner made nine saves in goal to preserve the win for the Storm. Freshman
Sam Price (Glenville, Pa.) made four stops in goal for the Pioneers.
Lake Erie outshot the Pioneers, 35-27. The Pioneers won 11-of-19 face-offs and were 20-21 on clear attempts.
C.W. Post returns to action at home on Saturday, April 14 against Mercy College at 12 p.m.
