John Jez Earns USILA Coach of the Year Honors

BALTIMORE (June 17, 2009) – After guiding the C.W. Post men's lacrosse team to an NCAA national championship title, head coach John Jez was awarded the highest coaching honor as this year's USILA Coach of the Year.
Jez, along with assistant coaches Frank Vitolo, Chris Gencorelli and Nick Dello-Iacono guided the Pioneers to a program-best 15-1 overall record and 6-0 mark in the East Coast Conference. The Pioneers defeated top-ranked LeMoyne College, 8-7, to claim their second national title on May 24. 

C.W. Post led the nation on offensive scoring and was second in scoring defense.

Senior attackman Greg Cerar (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) received the organization's top honor as the Lt. Raymond J. Enners Award for Outstanding Player while junior midfielder Mike Cama (Farmingville, N.Y.) was honored with the Specialty Award after leading the country with the highest face-off percentage.

In addition, Cerar and seniors Dave Loftus (Merrick, N.Y.) and Daniel Sciulla (Merrick, N.Y.) were named USILA Academic All-Americans were achieving a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

A former two-time All-America performer at Pfeiffer, Jez is also a member of the USILA Division II All-America Committee, the USILA Division II Poll Committee, and the NCAA Championship Lacrosse Committee.
